Southeast Regional Fine Arts Festival | North Raleigh Christian Academy, NC
The Southeast Regional Fine Arts Festival is not a competition— each group or piece is evaluated against a standard of excellence and not in comparison to other groups. Recognition is given in the form of ribbons and certificates with rating information.

During the Art Festival, students in grades K-6 and 6-12 will have the opportunity to have their artwork evaluated by local area artists. These artists will use a standard category-based form to provide each student with feedback and guidance based on the elements of art and principles of design. Recognition will be given in the form of ribbons, based on ratings in the categories of platinum, gold, silver and bronze.

During the Music Festival, students will have the opportunity to showcase their musical abilities through well-prepared performances for professional choral adjudicators. They will receive real-time feedback in a brief clinic session with one of the adjudicators, along with written and/or recorded comments.
Art Criteria
For Art, participation is open to students in grades K-6 for elementary and grades 6-12 for middle and high school. A school may submit a maximum of twenty (20) entries for elementary and twenty-four (24) entries for middle and high school. There is a limit of two pieces of artwork from any student, and a student may not enter the same category twice. Senior Portfolio entries do not count toward a school’s or student’s maximum entries. A revised list of categories for artwork is provided in the Art Coordinator handbook.
This year we have added a special themed category open to all ages. The theme for 2024-25 is “A Tapestry of God’s Creation,” and it beautifully reflects the intricate and interconnected nature of the world as described in the Bible. Student artists may use any art medium to create a unique piece that they feel best represents the story of creation. This will be a separate category, with its own set of awards. The breakdown will still be K-6 and 6-12. These will count as part of your 20 or 24 entries.

Description
Students will attend the festival along with their teachers to enjoy a gallery walk of all artwork that has been submitted. Ribbons will be placed on each artwork before the event begins. All evaluation sheets will be given back to the art teachers upon registration. While enjoying the student gallery, workshop classes will be offered based on grade levels. A minimum of 18 students will be allowed in each workshop. Each student will be able to attend two workshops while at the festival. All artwork will be taken home, including any pieces created in workshops at the end of the festival.

Music Criteria
Selections found on an approved state festival list are acceptable (and are a great place to start looking) for all grade levels but must be suitable for a Christian school event. Pieces not on a state-approved list should still meet festival guidelines. Music style may be sacred or contemporary. Selections where emphasis is placed on choreography, show appeal, or dramatic interpretation are not acceptable. Choose songs that present a positive testimony.
Each Band/Orchestra and Choir will perform two memorized pieces for adjudication, preferably in contrasting styles. An optional brief warm-up piece or scale may be performed (not adjudicated) to acclimate to the acoustics of the space.
Each Large Ensemble will perform one memorized piece for adjudication. An optional brief warm-up piece or scale may be performed (not adjudicated) to acclimate to the acoustics of the space.
Each Solo/Small Ensemble will perform one memorized piece for adjudication.
