Eastern University, a Division III school in St. Davids, Pennsylvania, gained its newest recruit on January 8, 2025: NRCA senior football player Nate Earnest.
When Earnest began playing football at nine years old, he never imagined he would end up pursuing it in college. “I just kind of enjoyed it from the start. Football was always a thing in my family,” said Earnest.
From there, Earnest spent many years playing football for NRCA’s football program. “I like [NRCA’s] environment. [It helped me] meet a lot of new people and gave me the opportunity for new friendships. It also helped me grow my faith and helped me grow others and lead others,” he said.
Eastern is a Christian school with opportunities to pursue a business degree, which made it an obvious choice for Earnest. “[Eastern] gives me the ability to start early in my college career, [and] also it gives me the opportunity to be able to play football in a Christian environment,” said Earnest.
High school football was a journey filled with memories for Earnest. “I don't think there’s one specific memory. There’s just a lot of memories along the way, but senior year was probably the greatest memory just because of all the senior advantages. We get the posters and Senior Night,” he said. NRCA designs and prints an individual banner for every senior athlete in each sport. Each team also hosts Senior Night, where senior athletes and their families are recognized at the start of what is often the last home contest of the regular season.
As his high school career comes to a close, Earnest would like to thank everyone who helped him reach his goals and become the person he is today. “First, I’d like to thank God. I would also like to thank Coach [Chris] Rivera, for giving me the opportunities he did. And I would like to thank my dad for pushing me these last years,” he said.
