Made some BIG Changes

Even during the summer months, the NRCA campus buzzes with activity as students attend camps and sports workouts and as the facilities are cleaned, repaired, and updated. The summer of 2021 included an update and redesign for two major facilities: the Student Life Center and the stadium track around the football field.

The design in the Student Life Center underwent a drastic change. The original design was modeled after a fifties-style diner theme, the colors bright blue, red, and yellow. Now, the environment is more of a modern coffee shop, the colors blue, white, and brown.

“The intent to update the Student Life Center was to make it a more inviting venue for students to hang out as well as a more comfortable place to host meetings and build community,” Superintendent Dr. Kevin Mathes said.

The Student Life Center is the main gathering place for many different clubs, special lunches, and administrative meetings. With the new design and special additions such as metal wall games like connect four and chess, the Student Life Center creates the ideal environment for parents, teachers, and students to socialize.

“Anytime I get to go and be in the Student Life Center I’m pumped,” student chaplain Noah Mckenzie said. “Whether it’s for senior lunch, football or basketball team dinner, or any other event, it’s just a fun time getting to relax and/or eat with friends. It simply provides a great central spot to build unity and love within the student body. Being able to walk around to different people and hear all the laughs and conversations is so special! Overall, the Student Life Center has really lived up to its name this year.”

The NRCA stadium track was also renovated. The old track was completely replaced out of necessity due to the damage and major repairs it needed. The new track, updated by Americourt, now matches NRCA’s school colors, designed in blue to match the tennis courts.

“The new track is amazing. Don’t get me wrong, the old track was good, but the feel that the new track has is amazing and the navy blue is great,” senior varsity football and track runner Josh Pardo said. “The blue matches our school colors a lot better than the red and really makes the football field pop out more. I think it really catches the attention of a lot of people and is a great addition to the school.”

Overall, the new and improved SLC and track are great additions to NRCA. These new renovations will help create memories and fellowship, all for the glory of God.

“The Student Life Center and track are great places for students to bond, get to know each other, and ultimately fellowship in a school provided place,” senior Student Council President Landon Betts said. “The SLC new design and games will make it an even better place for students to come and hangout, and the newly replaced track will definitely make events stand out more. Overall, these places are the perfect spots for after school socializing and fellowship among peers.”
