He Is Risen: A Living Hope

By Dr. Kevin Mathes, NRCA Superintendent

An Easter Devotional

Easter is the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection—a triumphant moment that conquered death and brought the promise of eternal life to all who believe. At North Raleigh Christian Academy, this sacred season serves as a powerful reminder of the unshakable hope we have in Christ and the life-transforming truth of the gospel.  The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the ultimate expressions of God’s love for us. Jesus willingly endured the cross, taking on the penalty of our sin so that we might experience forgiveness, freedom, and new life in Him. His crucifixion was not merely a tragic event—it was a victorious act of love that opened the way for redemption.

But the story doesn’t end at the cross. The resurrection is the heart of Easter—proof that death has been defeated and that we serve a living Savior. Because He lives, we, too, can rise each day with renewed strength, courage, and purpose. As 1 Peter 1:3 declares: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Because of this great love, we are not only saved—we are sent. The resurrection empowers us to carry the gospel with joy, knowing that the risen Christ goes before us. As Christ-followers, we have the incredible privilege of sharing this living hope with a world in need, shining the light of His love because He first loved us.

At NRCA, we believe we are called to be a lighthouse—anchored in truth and radiant with hope—as we partner with families in Kingdom education, instilling biblical principles in students’ lives through academics, fine arts, and athletics. Our greatest joy is seeing students come to know Jesus Christ as Savior, follow Him as disciples, and share the light of the gospel throughout the world. This mission is possible only because the tomb is empty and our Savior reigns.

As we celebrate Easter, may we boldly and joyfully reflect the light of the risen Christ, pointing our families, our friends, and all those around us to the One who brings life and salvation.

The resurrection changes everything. May we continue to live in the light of Easter—not just today, but every day—rejoicing in the risen Christ who brings life, hope, and purpose to all who believe.

He is risen indeed!
