North Raleigh Christian Academy began working in the 2019-2020 school year to prepare for an accreditation visit to renew our dual accreditation through ACSI and Cognia. NRCA’s accreditation visit was originally scheduled for the spring of 2020 but was delayed due to COVID. Thankfully, NRCA was able to reschedule our visit for the fall of 2020. The visiting team arrived this past Sunday, September 20th and concluded their visit on Wednesday, September 23rd.
Accreditation status signifies that a school has met institutional standards of quality and has verified their commitment to strategic, continuous, and systematic school improvement. The accreditation process encourages the school to assess and improve student learning, focus on both instructional and programmatic effectiveness, and evaluate staying true to their mission and vision. The purpose of the accreditation team visit is to validate the school’s self-study, confirm that the school is being true to its mission, evaluate the school’s level of compliance with quality accreditation standards, assess the school’s continuous improvement process, commend the school in areas considered strengths, provide valuable feedback through clear recommendations for improvement, and make a recommendation for accreditation to the Commission on Accreditation.
As a part of the accreditation process, NRCA also completed, for the first time, an International Student Program Endorsement. NRCA began its International Student Program in our high school in 2011 as a fulfillment of NRCA’s vision to be a lighthouse of Kingdom Education. Our International Student Program allows us to accomplish this both locally and globally according to Acts 1:8. Through the years, NRCA’s program has grown from 8 students to 47 students from countries that have included Belarus, China, Colombia, South Korea, Taiwan, Bahamas, Brazil, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. NRCA’s International Student Program is well-positioned to carry its mission forward for years to come and to continue being a lighthouse in the local community and around the world.
Based on the findings from the review of evidence, it is with great pleasure to announce that the visiting team recommends to the ACSI Commission on Accreditation that North Raleigh Christian Academy be REACCREDITED for another full five-year term. In addition, the ISP visiting team recommends to the ACSI Commission on Accreditation that NRCA receive the International Student Program Endorsement.
The visiting team would like to extend their congratulations to NRCA on completion of this stage and on hosting a very successful visit, their admiration for examining themselves with integrity and preparing for the visiting team, their heartfelt appreciation for the warm welcome, genuine hospitality, and eager cooperation from the NRCA family!
