Thank you for your patience as we have been working through the implementation of our new learning management system (LMS), Schoology. We are still working with the team at Schoology to correct a few bugs, but we did not want to delay in providing instructions for you to setup a parent account any longer. The biggest outstanding issue at this point is grades being passed back into PowerSchool from Schoology. You will be able to view individual assignment grades in Schoology and, for the time being, final term grades (i.e. quarters, semesters, etc.). In order to help alleviate confusion, once Schoology has resolved the issue with grades being sent to PowerSchool, all final term grades will only be viewable in PowerSchool. Individual assignment grades will still be viewable in Schoology, but PowerSchool is the “grade on record” for all term grades.
You will find instructions and your child’s unique access code in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you have not created a PowerSchool parent account yet, you should have received a letter in the mail with detailed instructions on creating an account. After logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, you will see a menu item for Schoology, which links to a page with further instructions and the unique access code.
Schoology has also published a parent guide that provides details on navigating the Schoology interface.
In light of the issues, we have had with the implementation of Schoology, Joel Hames, a Schoology executive, requested that we provide the statement, linked below, to all of our school families. While many of the issues we have been working through were unforeseen, Schoology has been a great partner in trying to get things resolved as quickly as possible. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding in this process.
